If Algae is Such a Superstar Why Don’t I Know About It?
Like other superstars, algae is no overnight success. It was the first plant life on earth 2 billion years ago. Algae is recognized by The United Nations and NASA as the most nutritionally dense food in the world because it has 1,000 times more nutrition than any other fruit or vegetable. It also has the highest concentration of protein in the world (3 x steak), more beta carotene than carrots, more iron than spinach, more chlorophyll than wheat grass, and forty vitamins and minerals.
In short, algae is a complete food that nourishes your body, improves your health and provides physical energy and mental vitality naturally and all without caffeine, chemicals, sugar, gluten, soy or anything artificial. Vegan, paleo and just one calorie too. Algae was first discovered by the Dutch in the late 1800's and first used as a food source by the Germans after WWI.
It was forgotten until WW II, when the USA provided algae to the Japanese as a needed source of protein after Hiroshima. When the algae seemed to eliminate their radiation poisoning, the USA government took note and in 1949, the Carnegie Institute funded the first algae production plant for mass American consumption.
The production proved to be too challenging and was shut down a year later. The Japanese decided to give it a try and devoted 10 years learning how to grow algae for mass consumption. Algae farming is now a multi-billion dollar industry there. For the last 50 years algae has been used by Olympic athletes, NASA and millions in Asia.
Now it’s your turn!
